El poeta, ensayista, agricultor y novelista Wendell Berry nació el 5 de agosto de 1934 en New Castle, Kentucky. Estudió en la Universidad de Kentucky en Lexington, donde obtuvo una licenciatura en Lengua Inglesa en 1956 y una maestría en 1957.
Berry es autor de más de treinta libros de poesía, ensayos y novelas.
