Isamu Yoshii 吉井 勇 (1886-1960) fue un poeta de tanka y dramaturgo japonés activo durante las eras Taishō y Shōwa. Aunque en su juventud se sintió atraído por el romanticismo europeo, sus obras posteriores se caracterizaron por una mayor sobriedad.
Este famoso poema tanka sobre Gion, expresa el anhelo profundo e inevitable del poeta por el histórico barrio de Kioto.
